There are a few new interactive features on cestrescire.org.uk. Here's a quick summary of the main ones:
comments
You can add comments to our news posts, and calendar events. It is not necessary to register before you post. Just enter a name, email and what you have to say. If you have registered, there are a few advantages: your name is reserved, your comments will go straight up without a delay for checking, and you can keep track of them from the user menu.
updates
If you want to get our updates directly, you can subscribe to our RSS feed.
calendar
The Cestrescire calendar displays a straightforward list, and map of events. Behind the scenes it is a fully functional application, which can easily feed events into many widely used calendars.
If you use an iCal compatible calendar, such as iCal on Mac or Microsoft Outlook on Windows, you can download the events from our calendar to add them in to your own. Alternatively, you can subscribe to our calendar. That way you will get all the events from our current calendar, plus those we add in the future. The Download, Subscribe and Print icons can be found to the top-right of the calendar.
You can suggest events for our calendar, adding all the relevant details yourself to make sure they are accurate. If you have a living history event which you would like us to add, log in and click the "Suggest an event" button to the top right of the calendar. Enter the details and click save. Every suggested event is checked before it goes on to the main calendar, so don't worry if it does not appear right away. If you have any questions, problems, or want to add some information, email webadmin@cestrescire.org.uk.
logging in
You don't need to register in order to use the Cestrescire website. If you want to suggest calendar events online, or keep track of your comments threads though, it might be worth doing. The login button is on the right side of the menu bar, just under the Regia Anglorum logo. On the login page you will see an option to register. It is quick and easy - enter your name and email, and choose a password. Just enough information to confirm who you are when you come back. We won't pass on your email or bombard you with spam!
