Cestrescire

Aelfric rallying the army

Cestrescire is a living history group in the Cheshire and South Manchester area of England. We recreate, as accurately as we can, life as it was here about a thousand years ago.

Our extended period runs from the time of the Viking raids on Britain, through the Norman conquest, to around the time of Richard the Lionheart. You can learn a little about our period of interest in the history section.

Cestrescire's public facing activities include staging complete events including a full period camp and combat display. With school visits we bring Saxon and Viking to life for children, and provide a range of replica items to see and touch. Keep track of up upcoming events with our calendar and news sections.

Behind the scenes activities include regular combat training, learning crafts and getting together equipment, feasting and of course learning about the period. Find out more about what we do in the group info section.

Membership is diverse and open to all ages and walks of life. If you share our desire to recreate early medieval history accurately and safely - and have fun in the process, then Cestrescire may be for you. As a part of Cestrescire and Regia Anglorum, you can learn the history and skills of the period - and present them to the public. Visit our members section to find out a little more about the people who make up Cestrescire.

If you want to get in touch, you will find details in the contact us section. Whether you are planning an event, are interested in joining or just want to say hello, we look forward to hearing from you.
